Northwood University automotive aftermarket students recently participated in the 2024 Auto Value & Bumper to Bumper Tech Expo in Grand Rapids, Michigan, hosted by Auto-Wares Groups of Companies.
“These experiential learning opportunities set our students apart, make them uniquely qualified and highly sought after,” stated James O’Dell, who serves as assistant director of aftermarket education and accompanied about 15 students to the expo. “This expo is among the best motor vehicle aftermarket training events in the country, and it draws technicians, shop owners, and independent parts store owners to attend technical and business classes as well as a trade show.”
Northwood students in attendance were sponsored by Auto-Wares and trade show exhibitors. Students attended meetings and worked the trade show booths with their supplier sponsors. It was also a great chance to network with several Northwood alumni who were exhibiting or working for Auto-Wares.
“We are grateful to Auto-Wares for including our students in this tremendously successful event,” O’Dell stated. “Their partnership and investment in students helps prepare the next generation of aftermarket leaders.”
The automotive aftermarket industry is the automotive industry’s after-sales market, including vehicle parts, equipment, replacement tires, service repair, collision repair, and accessories sold after the sale of the original vehicle. The global market value of the aftermarket industry exceeds $400 billion.
Northwood’s aftermarket management program is the only one of its kind. Students in this program are fueled by their passions for cars, the aftermarket, and turning this passion into a career. The program has nearly a 100% employment rate for all graduates in the program.
