Northwood Rocket League will head to Texas next month to compete for a national title after winning the Nation Esports Collegiate Conference’s Legends Spring Season.

“The team met all expectations they had for themselves,” stated Northwood Esports Coach Jacob R. Jacob. “They started the NECC season knowing that they were the best, and in the end, they further solidified their reign as the best.”

Northwood Rocket League won the Legends Spring Tournament on April 12, following a 4-3 win over Ball State University in the grand finals.

“The game was a lot closer than what we wanted, but luckily a best of seven in Rocket League gives you time to feel out your opponent and adjust your mistakes,” stated Kadin “Zineel” Zineelabidine, a student from Franklin Park, Illinois. “In the end, we’re the better team and we proved that by showing we can go the distance and make the changes needed to win 4-3.”

Other players on the winning team included Stephen “HockE” Hoelbinger of West Deptford, New Jersey, and Hunter “LionBlaze” Woitas, of San Tan Valley, Arizona.

Up next, Northwood Rocket League will compete for the NECC national title as well as the Collegiate Esports Commissions Cup, which will both take place May 3-5 in Arlington, Texas.
