Northwood University to Host Prolific Civil War Author

Northwood University’s Forum for Citizenship and Enterprise will host a special guest lecture on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 featuring William C. Davis, formerly Professor of History and Executive Director of the Virginia Center for Civil War Studies at Virginia Tech.  Davis’s lecture is titled “Grant and Lee in War and Peace” and will reassess these iconic generals and their successes and failures in war and peace.The event will begin at 7 pm in the Gerace Auditorium in the Carl A. Gerstacker Academic Center on the campus of Northwood University in Midland, Michigan. The Gerstacker Academic Center connects the E.W. Bennett Sports Center to the DeVos Student Development Center. Davis is the author or editor of more than fifty books in the fields of Civil War and Southern history, as well as numerous documentary screenplays.  He has served as a consultant for the Arts & Entertainment Network/History Channel as well as a number of other productions on commercial and Public Television, and for the BBC, and has acted as historical consultant for several television and film productions. He is a three-time winner of the Jefferson Davis Award given for book-length works in Confederate History.  His book Crucible of Command:  Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee, the War they Fought, the Peace They Forged, has just been published by Da Capo.
