Northwood University to Honor Four Outstanding Alumni

Northwood University will honor four individuals with the 2014 Outstanding Alumni Awards on Saturday, April 5, in Griswold  Dining Hall on Northwood’s Midland campus located at 4000 Whiting Drive. The reception will begin at 11 a.m. with the luncheon commencing at 12 p.m. (noon).

The Outstanding Alumni Awards are given by Northwood University to its graduates based on the following criteria. All nominees must believe and support the University mission and core values and be an example to all future alumni of Northwood University.

2014 Outstanding Alumni Award Recipients and Criteria:

Alumni Achievement Award: Nominees must have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their chosen career and support the Northwood Idea—Jennifer “Jen” M. Panning, Pinckney, Michigan (BBA 1992), president, Artisan Tile, Inc.; and Richard “Rick” C. Summers, Williamsburg, Michigan (BBA 1979), corporate sales director, Fox Motors.

Alumni Leadership Award: Nominee must be an active alumni participant and supporter of Northwood University—Christopher “Chris” L. Gaunce, Waterville, Maine (BBA 1992), vice president, Central Maine Motors Auto Group.

Young Alumni Volunteer Award: Nominee’s degree must have impacted their current success in their business and community. Nominee must have demonstrated support to Northwood and the Northwood Idea—Christopher “Chris” M. Chandler, Midland, Michigan (BBA 2002 & MBA 2003), program manager, customer and business events, The Dow Chemical Company.

Northwood President and CEO Keith A. Pretty states, “This is truly an extraordinary group and we are pleased to be able to honor them. Our present day academic, student activity and athletic programs were designed based on the experiences we learned from alumni.”
