Cathy Scott’s “College Accounting: A Career Approach” (12th edition) has been published by Cengage Learning. As the title suggests, the text emphasizes real-world applications and a career-oriented approach to accounting. It is the only college accounting text available that incorporates step-by step instruction in QuickBooks® within its chapters. Scott is proud to have incorporated innovating teaching ideas and her real-world experience in successfully training accounting students with this textbook.Scott is an adjunct instructor on Northwood University’s campus in Cedar Hill, Texas, where she teaches automotive marketing and related courses. When not on Northwood’s campus, she is an associate professor of accounting at Navarro College and the accounting program coordinator. She is a popular speaker within the automotive industry on topics that include financial management and accounting plus has written numerous related articles for automotive publications. She has also spoken on various occasions about effectively using technology in the classroom, improving online education and engaging students with activity learning.
Scott is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants and is a past co-chair of the American Accounting Associations’ Conference on Teaching and Learning Accounting and the 2014 program co-chair for the Teaching, Learning and Curriculum section. She has been recognized on multiple occasions for her excellence in teaching and, most recently, was the proud recipient of the 2012-2013 American Accounting Association’s Two-Year College Educator of the Year Award.
