On Monday, January 20, students, faculty and staff celebrated the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. with a powerful and informational event featuring keynote speaker, Rachel L. Proctor. Proctor serves the All-American City of Desoto, Texas, as a city council member (District 4). She also currently serves as a Desoto Chamber of Commerce board member and is on the Board of Directors for Leadership Southwest.Proctor spoke about the importance of playing our part in Martin Luther King’s dream and how we must continue to make his dream a reality. “Ms. Proctor’s speech was very inspiring and made me realize the importance of keeping one’s dream alive. I look forward to living out my dream and implementing Ms. Proctor’s encouraging words into my everyday life,” said senior and Student Government President, Natasha Norman.
