Northwood University received special recognition from the City of Midland during a Nov. 7 Appreciation of Beautification Awards Program for improvements made to our iconic Mall Walk!
Northwood was honored for enhancements made to Founder’s Garden and the adjacent John and Marjorie Hohman Amphitheater, which include new sculptures honoring our founders — Arthur and Johann Turner and Gary and Willa Stauffer — and Nobel Prize winning economist Milton Friedman, and his wife, Rose Friedman.
Other recent campus improvements include:
• The completion of the Michel and Dianne Morey Family Courtyard, located in the center of campus.
• New tile work around the fountain and fireplace at the Four Season Space near the Lincoln on the Prairie statue that sits at the heart of campus.
• The addition of the Strosacker Learning Commons Garden
• A stone path leading to a newly-lighted pad at the pillars at Northwood’s south entrance, which is located on Main Street.
• A campaign to turn utility boxes around campus into works of public art that pay homage to Midland’s University, The Northwood Idea, and Northwood’s commitment to Liberty and Business For All.
The entire Northwood University community is grateful to be part of the vibrant Midland community, and we thank the City’s Beautification Advisory Committee for recognizing Northwood with this prestigious Award.
