High school students are invited to Northwood University March 20 to tour one of the most decorated collegiate esports programs in U.S. history.
“Any high schooler who is interested in collegiate gaming will not want to miss this open house,” stated Coach Jacob R. Jacob. “Attendees will be able to personally see the home of America’s first collegiate esports dynasty; tour our facilities; and meet with our coaches and players.”
Northwood Esports has two world titles under its belt, including the Red Bull Campus Clutch 2022 (the largest collegiate Valorant tournament); and the 2022 Collegiate Rocket League World Championship.
This fall, Northwood qualified to compete for the 2024 Collegiate Rocket League World Championship. Northwood Esports also won the Fall Overwatch National Championship (further cementing Northwood as home to the best collegiate Overwatch team in the country).
Most recently, Northwood Esports won the Saints X Colleague Rocket League Invitational featuring the top Rocket League teams from the Great Lakes regions of the U.S. and Canada on March 10. Other recent accomplishments include one of our newer Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players winning Afterburner 2024 on March 9; and two Northwood Esports recently signed contracts to play professionally.
“Our players have competed all over the United States and world,” Jacob noted. “We welcome all levels of gaming, so whether you’re a novice or an experienced gamer whose goal is to go pro, Northwood Esports invites you to be part of our program.”
In addition, Northwood Esports recruits students for non-gaming roles, including team management; broadcasting (casting and production management); and social media (graphic design, content coordination and videography/photography).
“These are some of the auxiliary roles in the booming esports industry,” stated Aden Frosch, Northwood Esports assistant coach.
The upcoming Northwood Esports Open House is scheduled to take place from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at Northwood University in Midland.
“There’s no better place for someone interested in collegiate gaming to visit than the home of one of the best collegiate esports programs in America,” Frosch stated.
