Northwood Esports is the victor of Colleague Madness 2024, an online tournament drawing collegiate Rocket League teams from across North America.

“Colleague Madness has been the closest thing the team has had to the main developer league this semester,” stated Coach Jacob R. Jacob. “It’s the first time all of these top schools have gotten a chance to play each other, and after it’s all over, it’s safe to say that we’re still the best Rocket League Team in North America.”

“Colleague is like the ESPN of Rocket League,” added Team Manager Ryan “Slew” Sebek, of Maumee, Ohio. “They cover tournaments of all sizes and put together power rankings for the top 64 teams, which goes above and beyond what other games get. It was an amazing experience to be able to represent the No. 1 overall seed and defend our position going into Colleague Madness.”

Northwood’s winning Rocket League team consisted of Stephen “HockE” Hoelbinger, of West Deptford, New Jersey; Hunter “LionBlaze” Woitas, of San Tan Valley, Arizona; and Kadin “Zineel” Zineelabidine, of Franklin Park, Illinois.

Esports is an umbrella for numerous competitive games, similar to a university’s athletics department serving as an umbrella for a variety of traditional sports. So Rocket League is to an esports program what football is to a traditional athletics program.

With multiple world and national championships, as well as a number of players who have gone on to play professionally, Northwood Esports is a powerhouse in the world of collegiate esports. For more information, visit https://esports.northwood.edu/
