Part of free Freedom Fest Concert Series
As part of its inaugural Freedom Fest Concert Series, Northwood University will host Billy Gunther and the Midwest Riders on Aug. 23.
“We had such a wonderful turnout at our first Freedom Fest concert here last month at ‘Midland’s University,’ and we are elated to invite the community once more to our beautiful campus to experience enjoyment for all ages,” said Northwood University President Kent MacDonald. “We’re looking forward to continuing this concert series with Billy Gunther and the Midwest Riders.”
Billy Gunther and the Midwest Riders, a country and classic rock band from Flint, will perform the second Freedom Fest concert on Aug. 23. The concert series will wrap up on Sept. 20 with Stone Street Revival (SSR), a premier musical group from Michigan that focuses on great songs you don’t often hear and 70s hits.
In addition to an evening of great music, each concert will feature games for the whole family, food trucks (Nate’s Cart and Flying Trout Catering/Military Field Kitchen), cake and non-alcoholic beverages. Attendees will have the option to purchase adult beverages from Tavern 59 for the Aug. 23 concert.
Those who plan to come out should bring their own lawn chairs. Everyone is allowed to bring snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.
All the Freedom Fest ‘Music in the Woods’ concerts will be held at 6 p.m. at the John and Marjorie Hohman Amphitheater in Midland. In the event of inclement weather, festivities will be moved to the Griswold Communications Center.
