Chief Executive Officer and President, O-I Glass, Inc.
Andres Lopez leads O-I Glass, Inc., one of the world’s leading manufacturers of packaging products and the largest manufacturer of glass containers in North America, Europe, South America and Asia. One of America’s most iconic companies, O-I was founded in 1903 by Edward Drummond Libbey and Michael Joseph Owens, who together commercialized the first automated bottle-making machine. O-I was one of the original S&P 500 companies in 1957, remains so today, and trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker “OI.”
Andres’ leadership style involves a deep commitment to innovation, sustainability, and value creation by empowering people. Under his leadership, O-I has developed bold, industry-leading product innovations and commercial approaches, which include a proprietary reinvention of glass-making technology known as MAGMA. Passionate about the infinite recyclability, beauty, and sustainability of glass, Andres has championed glass and its benefits through innovative social-media-based glass-advocacy programs and community engagement projects, such as O-I’s Glass4Good™ community recycling program.
Andres began his career with O-I in Colombia in 1983. He has held a variety of positions, including global vice president of manufacturing and engineering; vice president of manufacturing, North America; and country general manager for O-I Peru. He was president of O-I’s Latin America operations for five years, during which he led the region through significant organic and acquisition-based growth, adding new capabilities in Brazil and Mexico. Before being elevated to CEO in 2015, Andres also served as O-I’s chief operating officer and oversaw the successful integration of the Mexico-based Vitro Food and Beverage business into O-I’s global operations.
As Andres has moved throughout the world during his career, his family has embraced the new experiences offered by each location they have called home. They have a passion for boating and golf, and as well as for community engagement. Andres is an active supporter of the United Way globally. He also serves on the Avery Dennison Corporation’s Board of Directors.
