If there’s a charitable event in metro Detroit, there’s a good chance Millie A. Pastor’s involved in it, helping raise money to do good works. Millie is known as a dynamic, energetic and enthusiastic supporter of innumerable charities. She’s donned western garb to raise money to restore and preserve a historic church. She’s helped out the auctioneer as he took bids to raise funds for the Henry Ford Heart and Vascular Institute. She co-chaired a swinging safari soiree to support breast cancer research. Initially educated as a registered nurse, this talented woman later continued her education in interior design. Pastor Interiors, Inc. was established in 1964. As owner and principal of her own interior design company, Millie has worked with clients in Paris, London, and even as far away as Nigeria where she was commissioned to do the interior design for the Saudi Arabian Embassy. Millie is a past president of the Women’s Division for Project Hope, the American Lung Association, and Artrain. She is a member of the corporate board of the American Lung Association and is on the board of trustees for community care for the Henry Ford Health System. She’s been involved in numerous organizations, including the Women’s Economic Club, the Detroit Zoological Society and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. She is also a member of Northwood’s Detroit Advisory Board. Millie is the winner of many honors for her leadership and volunteer activities. She is especially proud of her past distinction from the National Society of Fund Raising, who named her Outstanding Fund Raising Volunteer of the year. Millie is married to Robert H. Pastor, President of R.H. Pastor Building and Real Estate Development Company. She is the mother of four adult children, two daughters and two sons, and is the proud grandmother of six grandchildren.
