Richard H. Ruch assumed responsibilities of Chief Executive Officer of Herman Miller, Inc., on January 1, 1988, and also became the President of the company in April 1990. He was elected to the Herman Miller Board of Directors in 1985. He also serves on the board of directors at Milcare, Herman Miller Europe, Paragon Bank, and BIFMA (Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association). Herman Miller, Inc., is an international company engaged primarily in the manufacture and sale of furniture systems, products, and related services for offices, health-care facilities, and factory environments. He is a member of the board of the Scanlon Plan Associates and has twice served as President of that organization. He is a past board member of Herman Miller of Canada, Ltd., H.L. Hubbell, Inc., Weldun International, and Herman Miller Research Corporation.
