Virginia Nick, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Faithon P. Lucas, resided in Dallas and Molivos, Island of Lesbos, Greece. She attended Southern Methodist University where she was a member of Delta Gamma. A dynamic and tireless advocate of personal involvement, Mrs. Frank Nick spent most of her life in Christian education and worked constantly for a better understanding between Greece and the United States. Mrs. Nick’s community commitments are many: she was a member of the National Women’s Board of Northwood of Texas, the Northwood Contemporary Arts Advisory Committee, the Women’s Boards and boards of directors of the Dallas Civic Opera, Dallas Theater Center and Dallas Symphony Orchestra League. She was a member of the board of directors of the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge, the March of Dimes, Children’s Development Center and the Leukemia Society. She served on the Greater Dallas Planning Council, in the Central Business District Association, the International Trade Association and on the Texas Fine Arts Commission. Virginia Nick was a part of the Dallas Cultural Activities Committee, a president of the TACA, Inc. and on the executive board of the Girls Club and the Council on World Affairs in Dallas. She worked with foreign visitors’ programs and, during Mr. Nick’s lifetime, the couple sponsored twenty-three young men who came to America to be citizens. (Deceased 1998)
