1975 – Dallas, Texas
Mrs. James K. Wade was born in Bronxville, New York. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin B. Hopkins, divided their time between New York and Dallas and she therefore received her early education in New York and Texas schools. She attended Northwestern University to study drama and was graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Art in New York City. She had exciting experiences in the years following, first in the Starlight Theatre of Poughkeepsie, New York, and then working with radio shows produced weekly by the military in Nankin, China. Back in Texas, her acting abilities brought her to the Dallas Theatre III for leading roles in three productions. Mrs. Wade’s commitment to culture and education included active participation as an officer of the Dallas Civic Opera Women’s Board. She headed the Opera Debs, a group designed to further interest and knowledge of the opera for high school age students. She was a member of TACA, an organization which benefits the performing arts, the Creative Learning Center for brilliant underprivileged children, the Dean Learning Center and the Dallas Council on World Affairs.
