Educated at the Liggett School in Detroit, Michigan and at Wellesley College, Martha Blood Zeder volunteered her talents to many organizations throughout her life. She was involved in community activities in Dallas such as the Junior League, Wellesley Club, Theatre Center, County Heritage Society, Voluntary Action Center, Museum of Fine Arts League, Civic Ballet, Civic Opera, Symphony Orchestra League, Grand Opera Association and TACA. In 1977 she served as chairman of the Northwood Dallas FAD Auction. Her husband, Fred M. Zeder, was president of the Board of Governors of Northwood in Texas. In Washington, DC, he served as director of the Office of Territorial Affairs under the Department of Interior. In connection with his duties, the Zeders traveled extensively among the trust territory islands of the Pacific and Caribbean. The Zeders have five children and Ambassador Zeder now resides in Rancho Mirage, California. (Deceased 1999)
