The Northwood University campus will be closed from December 23rd until January 2nd for the holidays.

Martha H. Lynch was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Hirsch. She is a graduate of Sullins College in Virginia and the University of Texas at Austin. Her late husband, William Wright Lynch, was the president and board chairman of Texas Power and Light Company. She has two sons, William Wright Lynch, Jr. and Harry Hanszen Lynch and six grandchildren. Mrs. Lynch is listed in Who’s Who of American Women and was the recipient of the Arete Award, Zonta Award, Honor Award from the National Jewish Hospital in Denver, Service Award from the National Texas Youth Council at Austin and Honor Award of the City of Brownwood, Texas. Mrs. Lynch is a member of Northwood’s National Women’s Board and received the Distinguished Women’s Award in 1978. She was on the Board of Directors of Dallas Woman’s Club, Dallas Civic Ballet, Planned Parenthood, Society for Animal Protection and the Women’s Council of Dallas County. She also has served on the advisory board of the University of Texas at Dallas and on the boards of Dallas Civic Music, G.B. Dealey Awards for Young Artists and Insurance Board Corporation. She is past chairman of Dallas Seeing Eye, past chairman of the Lyceum Club and Dallas Symphony Orchestra League. She has served on the advisory board of the Dallas County Heritage Society and the Crystal Charity Ball and was a trustee of the Dallas Theater Center and Dallas Symphony Orchestra. She served on the advisory committee for Educational Opportunities, Inc., the Women’s Board of the Dallas Opera and served on the Dallas Committee of Young Artists for Young Audiences, Inc.
