Give the gift of a free-enterprise camp experience this holiday season, as registration is now open for the 2025 Learning About Business Week, a five-day summer camp from June 15-20, 2025, at Northwood University in Midland.
“An immersive and dynamic summer camp, LAB Week is the perfect gift for high school students who have a passion for innovation and entrepreneurship – or who would benefit from cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset, something that is valued by employers in all fields, and which boosts educational attainment and performance,” noted Patrick McElgunn, the director of the NU Idea Center in downtown Midland, and coordinator for Northwood University’s LAB Week.
LAB Week offers an extraordinary opportunity for high school students to tap into their entrepreneurial potential and develop skills that will set them on a path to future success.
“By opening registration early, we’re excited to give families and friends the chance to gift an unforgettable experience to the next generation of innovators this holiday season,” McElgunn stated.
LAB Week provides a week-long, hands-on experience combining team collaboration, mentorship, and dynamic learning led by industry experts and Northwood University faculty. Participants will delve into critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and leadership topics through engaging workshops, real-world case studies, and interactive activities. One of the camp’s highlights is the “Shark Tank” event, where teams will develop and pitch start-up ideas to a panel of industry experts, mirroring the popular TV show.
“Our goal is to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit in these students, helping them realize they can make a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond,” McElgunn explained. “We’re thrilled to be able to extend this opportunity early, making it easier than ever to share the gift of learning and business exploration.”
Additionally, students will have the unique chance to network with successful entrepreneurs and business leaders, gaining valuable insights and connections that could shape their academic and professional futures.
LAB Week is open to high school students entering grades 9-12 and is limited to 50 participants to ensure personalized attention and a rich learning environment. Those interested are encouraged to apply early, as spots will fill up quickly.
