An automotive aftermarket marketing and management student from a family of car enthusiasts in Michigan’s Thumb region is the recipient of the 2024 Northwood University International Auto Show Aftermarket Chair Scholarship.

Sponsored by Dorman Products, this scholarship is awarded to a full-time junior or senior who possesses high ethical and moral standards and is pursuing a career in the automotive aftermarket industry. Additionally, the winner must serve as the aftermarket chair of the Northwood University International Auto Show, which is an annual student-run affair provided free for attendees thanks to immense support from the automotive and automotive aftermarket sectors.

This year, Ethan Moots will serve as the aftermarket chair of the 61st Northwood University International Auto Show, Oct. 4-6, 2024, in Midland, Michigan.

“Ethan exemplifies the dedication and passion we seek to cultivate within this dynamic industry,” stated Dr. Thomas Litzinger, chair of the University of the Aftermarket and Northwood aftermarket industry chair. “The work he has invested to earn this scholarship is a testament to his perseverance and potential, and we look forward to his future contributions at this fall’s auto show and in the field upon his graduation from Northwood University.”

In addition to his work with the Northwood University International Auto Show, Moots is president of the Northwood Aftermarket Club. His collegiate experience also includes a sales and operations internship with Hendrick Automotive Group in 2023.

This summer, Moots has gained a comprehensive and hands-on exploration of the heavy-duty aftermarket through an internship with VIPAR Heavy Duty Inc, which also sponsored his attendance at the 2023 Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week in Grapevine, Texas.

“Born into a family of car enthusiasts, I love all things automotive,” said Moots, a senior from Brown City, Michigan. “My passion lies in anything fast and loud, and I am turning that passion into a profession through Northwood’s Automotive Aftermarket Program. I am incredibly thankful to Dorman Products for making this investment in my education and for being such a strong Northwood partner.”

A manufacturer of aftermarket automotive products, Dorman Products has led the way in growing the aftermarket. Its catalog includes more than 118,000 products and grows every year.

“Dorman’s sponsorship of this generous scholarship is a testament to their commitment to education and the future of the automotive aftermarket industry,” stated Dr. Matthew Bennett, vice president of strategic alliances and the Center for Automotive and Mobility Studies at Northwood University.

Dorman Products is proud to sponsor this year’s Northwood University International Auto Show Aftermarket Chair Scholarship, stated Scott Leff, senior vice president and chief human resources officer.

“We believe in supporting the next generation of automotive leaders and innovators,” Leff added. “By partnering with Northwood University, we are investing in the industry’s future and helping to cultivate the talent that will drive its continued success.”

Northwood University plans to honor Dorman Products during this year’s Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX), Nov. 5-7, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
