Northwood is among Best Online Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration Degrees

Northwood University is among Forbes Advisor’s Best Online Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration Degrees of 2024.

“Northwood University’s program recognizes that success in today’s healthcare industry is driven by teams that include doctors, nurses, technicians, and business professionals,” stated Dr. Kristin Stehouwer, academic vice president and provost at Northwood University. “Professionals who have significant business skills provide significant strategic value to healthcare organizations at the managerial level — and our program equips graduates with the skills needed for upward career trajectory and organizational impact.”

In creating its guide for Best Online Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration Degrees of 2024, the Forbes Advisor Education team sourced data from the National Center for Education Statistics and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Forbes Advisor also pulled information from reputable professional organizations and education providers’ direct websites. Its rankings use a strict methodology to determine the best schools for each category. Moreover, an expert advisory board of experienced professionals and educators reviews and verifies Forbes Advisor Education content to ensure accuracy and completeness.

In Northwood’s Health Care Management Degree Program:

• Students develop the skills to run a healthcare organization by learning economics, accounting, budgeting, financial management and more.

• Studies include organizational behavior, legal and ethical case studies, leadership, and total quality management.

• Business-oriented leadership skills are strengthened, and graduates will enter the workforce with a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial mindset.

Dr. Leeza Bacon, who chairs Northwood’s Health Care Management Degree Program, explained one of the things that makes Northwood unique is that it engages students not only on class topics but on how learning should be done — as everyone learns differently.

“Together, the students and I create the mission statement for the program, map American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and National Center for Healthcare Leadership (NCHL) competencies to courses and their development plans, as well as clarify program objectives to match industry standards,” Bacon stated. “As a result, our program has included some amazing students who take their education and improving healthcare very seriously.”

Northwood’s Health Care Management Degree Program is offered in an accelerated format that allows students the opportunity to complete their bachelor’s and master’s degrees within four years. As of 2023, 92% of Northwood University students were awarded scholarship funding.

Graduates of Northwood’s Health Care Management Degree Program have worked in various industries in a number of positions, including clinical manager, health care consultant, nursing home director, strategic planning manager, health center manager, and medical records manager.
