For our Summer Semester 2012 Omniquest selection, the ADP team across ONE Northwood evaluated several recent business books and has selected Everyone Communicates but Few Connect by leadership expert, John C. Maxwell.
In the book, Maxwell describes the ability to truly connect:
People who are able to connect with others on an emotional level often have what could be called presence or charisma. They stand out in a crowd. Other people are drawn to them. As someone once observed, “People will not always remember what you said. They will not always remember what you did. But they will always remember how you made them feel.”
In Everyone Communicates, Few Connect, Maxwell distills his message into Five Connecting Principles and Five Connecting Practices. This book has applicability for all of us whether we are students, faculty, or staff in our professional and personal relationships. With many real-world examples, Maxwell focuses on what the most effective people do differently, and inspires readers to adopt the five connecting practices in their own lives.
