The Northwood University Mock Trial Team has seen another successful year. At the start of the 18-19 season, the team hit the ground running with weekly practices, to teach fresh faces and sharpen the skills of existing members.

As the season progressed, the Northwood University team participated in a tournament hosted by the University of Michigan at the Washtenaw County Courthouse where NU finished 4th out of the 18 teams that participated. As a result, the team finished the tournament with a record of 6 wins and 2 losses, which qualified them for 4th place.

Northwood’s Mock Trial team later earned their bid to participate in the American Mock Trial Association National Championship Series. Northwood placed 10th in the Temple Law Division and finished as one of the top 20 teams out of over 700 registered to compete nationally. In addition to the team award, two Northwood students won individual awards. Simeon Lawrence earned an All-American Witness Award while Chris Grant received an All-American Attorney Award.

Northwood University allows students to develop these unique skills through its dedication to experiential learning opportunities.
