Student Activities–The Big Game and Big Laughs

This past Sunday Texas students gathered in the Gaubert Student Activity Center to watch Super Bowl XLVIII. The evening was filled with yells, cheers, football snacks and fun conversation. As most of the room was occupied with Bronco fans, it was quite a disappointment for a majority of our students to watch the Denver Broncos lose to the Seattle Seahawks. “I could have sworn the Broncos would have won this game but, even though they lost, I still enjoyed hanging out with my friends and watching the game together” said student Chad Lockhart. “My favorite part was the half-time show” said student Daryl Vara. “Whether it was the game or the half-time show that brought students in, they all had a great time and I look forward to next year’s Super Bowl.”On Tuesday, February 4 the Campus Activities Board had their first Coffee House of the semester bringing in hilarious comedian Ronnie Jordan. Jordan has been featured on shows such as The Bad Boys of Comedy on HBO and BET’s Comic View. He is represented by Auburn Moon Agency and is currently touring the nation’s colleges and universities on his “College Material Tour.”

Students were turning to social media expressing their love for Jordan. Senior Brandon Mason posted this quote on Twitter, “Ronnie Jordan is one of the funniest comedians I have ever heard! He had all of us laughing from start to finish. Be sure to check him out!”

We look forward to more Coffee House events with our Campus Activities Board and we definitely look forward to bringing Ronnie Jordan back to our campus in the future.
