Northwood University is readying its transformation into a winter wonderland for the public to enjoy crafts, hot cocoa and horse wagon rides around its wooded campus.
Each year, the Northwood University campus community comes together to produce a festive holiday wonderland that not only lights up cold nights as students prepare for final exams, but also raises monies that directly support the areas of greatest need for students.
“Northwood University students demonstrate tenacity, drive, and free-thinking throughout the fall semester. It’s important to recognize their hard work, and facilitate a program that inspires them as they close out the semester,” stated Justin Marshall, chief development and engagement officer, who has been instrumental in establishing Winter Wonderland, which has become an annual tradition. “As Midland’s University, it brings us great joy to welcome guests from throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region to enjoy this complimentary family-friendly Winter Wonderland event!”
The Northwood community will decorate the mall walk at the heart of campus with lights, and banners, and provide children’s crafts. Joyful music will play, outdoor fire features will be lit, horse-drawn wagon rides will run, and hot cocoa will be available, starting with a Winter Wonderland kick-off event from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in the new Four Seasons Space on the mall walk.
Sponsored horse and wagon rides will be offered to the public from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 6, 12 and 14, and Jan. 12, 2023. All horse and wagon rides pick up near the Lincoln on the Prairie statue on the mall walk plaza. We suggest parking in the lot closest to the Bennett Sports Center — and for all guests to dress appropriately for the seasonal weather.
