President and Group CEO, Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd
Dr Andy Palmer, CMG, FREng, is the President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings plc. Since late 2014, Dr Palmer has led the transformation of Aston Martin Lagonda leading to record financial results and in 2018, its listing on the London Stock Exchange, the first car company to be listed in nearly 30 years. He was recognized by AutoExpress as the most influential person of the past 30 years in the global automotive industry.
Dr Palmer is a British-born chartered engineer with 40 years of automotive industry experience. He is an indentured apprentice, graduated of Coventry and Warwick Universities with a master degree (MSc) in Product Engineering from the latter. He was awarded a Doctorate (PhD) in Engineering Management from the School of Industrial and Manufacturing Science, Cranfield University in 2004. In 2010, Coventry University awarded Dr Palmer an Honorary Doctorate of Technology and in 2014 he was appointed Professor, advising the university in the automotive field. He is also an Industrial Professor at Warwick University. In 2016, Dr Palmer was honoured to be selected for the first Cranfield University “Distinguished Manufacturing Alumnus/a of the Year Award.”
Prior to joining Aston Martin Lagonda, Dr Palmer was Chief Operating Officer at Nissan Motor Co and Chief Planning Officer. Dr Palmer started his professional career aged 16, as an apprentice at Automotive Products Limited (UK).
In the 2014 New Year’s Honours list, Dr Palmer was named a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) in recognition of his services to the British automotive industry. He also serves as an Honorary Group Captain with the RAF.
