Kate Rand Lloyd was the editor-at large of Working Woman magazine. Mrs. Lloyd, who was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, graduated cum laude from Bryn Mawr College. She has served as a commissioner of the National Commission on Working Women and on the boards of the Child Care Action Campaign, Alan Guttmacher Institute, the Council on Economic Priorities and the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. In 1985, Governor Mario Cuomo of New York appointed her to the Job Training Partnership Council. In 1982, Mayor Edward Koch named Kate Rand Lloyd to the New York City Commission on the Status of Women, and, in 1983, she received the Headliner award from Women in Communications, Inc. By invitation, Mrs. Lloyd has participated in a six-nation conference sponsored by the Aspen Institute Berlin on The Future of the Welfare State and an interfaith delegation to Israel and Egypt sponsored by the Jerusalem Women’s Seminar. Sponsored by the United States Information Agency, she has spoken to selected audiences in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany and The Netherlands. Ms. Lloyd has chaired the Advisory Council of Women in Community Services and served on the advisory boards of the National Women’s Political Caucus and the Institute for Women and Work. A longtime resident of New York City, she and her husband, John Davis Lloyd, have three grown children and several grandchildren and now reside in Binghampton, New York.
