The Northwood University campus will be closed from December 23rd until January 2nd for the holidays.

Carmalee DeGeorge, a native Houstonian, manages family real estate, although she has always found time to be involved in the charitable and civic endeavors which gained her listing in Who’s Who of American Women. She attended Ward-Belmont College and Rice University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Texas. She has chaired the Museum of Fine Arts Maintenance Drive and the Houston Grand Opera’s Subscription Drive. She founded two social clubs, serving as president of each for four years. The Woman’s Club of Houston honored her as one of Houston’s Pioneer Women and Today’s Leaders. Carmalee has been chairman of Northwood’s Houston Women’s Board, of which she has been a member since its inception. She chaired a luncheon benefiting Northwood with (Distinguished Woman) Ambassador Selwa “Lucky” Roosevelt as speaker. In 1991, she received the Winifred Hirsch Volunteer of the Year Award from the chapter. She has served on the board of the Houston Museum of Fine Arts Costume Council and on the Steering Committee of the Women’s Institute. She also has served the boards of Theatre Under the Stars, Leukemia Society and the Houston Humane Society and held numerous other leadership positions because of her avid interest in the community, arts and education.
