The Northwood University campus will be closed from December 23rd until January 2nd for the holidays.

Helen DeVos believes deeply in family and community and has devoted years of service to support activities she feels uphold these values. A longtime resident of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mrs. DeVos is a major supporter of the performing arts, having served twenty years as a trustee and member of the executive board of the Grand Rapids Symphony. She is the founding sponsor of its Artist in Residence Program, which enables gifted artists to pursue their careers full-time and is building a core orchestra for the Symphony. She has served nationally as a vice-chairman of the American Symphony Orchestra League board in Washington, DC, and, after fulfilling her terms of office, was awarded an honorary board membership. Mrs. DeVos’ community and civic involvement has included honorary chairwoman of Toys for Tots in Grand Rapids and executive committee member of a group of Christian retirement homes in Grand Rapids. She has been active in her church with its guild and the Youth Education Committee. Recently, Mrs. DeVos was honored by Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, which named its newest facility The Helen DeVos Women and Children’s Center. Mrs. DeVos received her B.A. degree and teaching certificate from Calvin College in Grand Rapids. She is married to Richard M. DeVos, co-founder of Amway Corporation. They have four children and several grandchildren.
