The Northwood University campus will be closed from December 23rd until January 2nd for the holidays.

As founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Alvarado Construction, Inc, Linda has broken the ‘male only’ image of construction contractors across the United States and has opened doors to increasing numbers of women and minorities to enter construction and non-traditional fields. Alvarado Construction is a large commercial general contractor, construction management, and design-build firm based in Denver with offices in several states. The firm has completed numerous projects including multi-million dollar convention centers, sports stadiums, hotels, high rise office buildings, educational institutions, and retail complexes throughout the United States and internationally. Her career has included many firsts, including making history as the first Hispanic (male or female) owner of a major league baseball franchise, The Colorado Rockies. Alvarado is a member of the Board of Directors of Lennox International, 3M, Pepsi Bottling Group, Pitney Bowes and Qwest Communications. Linda is also a founding member and past Chairman of the Board of the Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, served as a Commissioner of the White House Initiative for Hispanic Excellence in Education. She is a founding trustee of the Rose Community Foundation and a trustee of the Qwest Communications and Taco Bell Foundations. Linda was inducted into The National Women’s Hall of Fame and is a recipient of the prestigious Horatio Alger Award. She has been named by Hispanic Business and Latino Leaders Magazine as one of the “100 Most Influential Hispanics in America.” Her success in business and active community involvement led her to be recognized as a trailblazer in her field as a recipient of the Sara Lee Corporation Frontrunner Award. A nationally recognized speaker, Linda has given keynote presentations for corporations, institutions of higher education, national conferences, business forums, and in schools motivating young people to excel and achieve their dreams.
