Dr. Virginia Linthicum

January 1, 1973

1973 – Dallas, Texas & La Jolla, California

Virginia Long Linthicum was born and raised in Texas. Her early interest in the arts led to study at the Kidd Key Sherman Art Studios and at East Texas University. A member of Northwood’s National Women’s Board, Dallas chapter, Virginia Linthicum also was a member of the board of the Dallas Society of Crippled Children, which she served through the Special Gifts Committee for over twenty years. Mrs. Linthicum’s other involvements include membership on the National Board of Regents for the Kenmore Association, serving as an officer and board member of the Dallas Civic Opera and the Dallas Art Museum and TACA. She also was president of the Dallas chapter of Friends of Venice, a member of the board of the Girls Club of Dallas and a member of the Brook Hollow Golf Club, the Yacht Club in Acapulco, Mexico, La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club in California and Le Cercle in Deauville, France. Mrs. Edward Bruce Linthicum said, “I believe that personal happiness and the welfare of society can best be achieved when individuals are prepared to work in careers to which their native talents incline. In a society which provides so much leisure time, such preparation enables the individual to pursue activities of this basic inclination with skill and self-approval. I believe Northwood meets this challenge of modern society.” (Deceased 1996)
