If you qualify for more than one of the scholarships listed below, you may choose the one scholarship that best suits your needs. Awarded prior to student’s first semester of attendance.
To apply for one of the following scholarships please visit your Northwood Timberwolf Terminal under Scholarship to upload your letter of recommendation.
Incoming freshmen who have participated in one of the business organizations must have a 2.5 GPA and have submitted a letter of recommendation from their advisor. Additional criteria are described below for the various organization scholarships. Renewal requires maintaining a 2.5 cumulative GPA after each fall semester, good campus citizenship, remaining enrolled as a full-time student and actively participating in BPA, Mock Trial or DECA at Northwood each academic year.
Turning Point USA
- $4,000 ($1,000/year) All incoming high school seniors that have participated in Turning Point USA may qualify. Must have a 2.5 GPA and submitted letter of recommendation from the organization advisor through your Timberwolf Terminal.
- $6,000 ($1,500/year) must meet the criteria above and:
- Attended a Turning Point USA Conference
DECA, BPA, Mock Trial, FBLA, JA, FCCLA, Skills USA, Virtual Enterprises International, HOSA-FHP
- $4,000 ($1,000/year) All incoming high school seniors that have participated in one of the business organizations may qualify. Must have a 2.5 GPA and have submitted a letter of recommendation from the organization advisor through your Timberwolf Terminal.
- $10,000 ($2,500/year) Must meet the criteria above and:
- Have held a state officer position, or
- Advanced to national or international competition.
- $20,000 ($5,000/year) Must meet the criteria above and:
- Have held a national officer position, or
- Placed first at the national or international competition
To Apply for a Business Organization Scholarship
A letter of recommendation from your Business Organization Advisor indicating your active involvement, any winning placement(s) by category at state and/or national competitions and/or any state or national officer positions held must be submitted via your Timberwolf Terminal.
- Amount: $1000/year
- Must be a member of one of the following programs through the college you plan to transfer from:
- Future Business Leaders of America/Phi Beta Lambda
- Business Professionals of America
- Phi Theta Kappa
- American Marketing Association
- Collegiate DECA/Delta Epsilon Chi
- Enactus
- Must have a minimum 2.7 Cumulative GPA, Phi Theta Kappa must have a minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA
- A signed letter of recommendation from your organization advisor must be faxed or emailed to the NU Admissions Office confirming participation.
- Renewable by maintaining a 2.5 Cumulative GPA after each fall semester, good campus citizenship, remaining enrolled as a full-time student, and actively participating in BPA or DECA at Northwood each academic year.
To Apply for a Transfer Organization Scholarship
A letter of recommendation from your Business Organization Advisor indicating your active involvement, any winning placement(s) by category at state and/or national competitions and/or any state or national officer positions held must be submitted via your Timberwolf Terminal.
- Amount: $1000/year
- Recipient must be a dependent of a Northwood University alumnus.
- Renewable each year by maintaining a 2.5 cumulative GPA and good campus citizenship.
- Please visit your Timberwolf Terminal to apply.
If two or more dependent students from the same family attend full-time in the traditional program for the Fall and Spring semesters, each student will receive $1,500 for the spring semester. Eligibility determined annually.

The Michigan Chamber of Commerce and Northwood University have a shared goal of strengthening Michigan’s business climate through effective leadership. As Northwood University develops future leaders of a global, free-enterprise society, the Michigan Chamber promotes conditions favorable to job creation and business growth in Michigan. Together, we both share in an entrepreneurial, free-enterprise society that recognizes individual freedom, limited government, and personal responsibility.
These interconnecting missions have led our two organizations to partner and share resources to educate future business leaders on Michigan’s business climate. This two-fold partnership offers a $1,000 tuition scholarship for eligible Northwood University students and a free student membership to all enrolled Northwood students.
$1,000 Tuition Scholarship
MI Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Request Form
This partnership will provide a $1,000 tuition scholarship to first-time Northwood University students who are full-time and living on the Midland Campus. To qualify, applicants must be an employee – or the spouse/child of an employee – who works for a Michigan Chamber of Commerce member in good standing.
This tuition scholarship is renewable annually as long as the recipient continues to meet the Northwood University eligibility criteria of a cumulative 2.5 GPA.
Free Student Membership
In addition, this partnership provides all Northwood University students with a free Michigan Chamber of Commerce Student Membership for as long as they are enrolled at the university.
Through this membership, students will receive regular e-communications about legislative, political and other news affecting the business community. They will keep their fingers on the pulse of what’s happening in the corporate world, so they hit the ground running when they enter it as leaders, managers or entrepreneurs.
