MIDLAND, MI – Northwood University and Jilin University-Lambton College recently celebrated its tenth year partnership. This partnership was the first overseas degree-granting program for Northwood University and the number of students has grown from 200 in 1999 to 2,200 at the present time.

Continuing a Northwood University tradition, the First Lambton Collegiate Auto Show was held at Jilin University-Lambton College, Changchun, China, on September 26, 2009. There were 19 different brands and 41 vehicles that joined the Auto Show, including 16 new vehicles, 20 used vehicles and five modified vehicles and vehicle parts.

The First Lambton Collegiate Auto Show is a pioneer in China for many reasons. First, this Auto Show is the biggest college campus outdoor auto show throughout China. Compared with the other auto shows on Chinese college campuses, the Lambton Collegiate Auto Show had more brands and vehicles.

Second, this is the first college auto show which had a separate exhibition area for used vehicles, modified vehicles and vehicle parts in China. In the mature auto market, the sales volume of used vehicles is much bigger than new vehicles. The purpose of the Auto Show is to help the development of the used vehicle market in China.

Third, all the work and activities are planned, organized and managed by students at Jilin University-Lambton College. There were about 60 students who worked at the Auto Show and most of them were from the Automotive Marketing Management major. Lambton College established the Auto Show Executive Board to manage the work and students.

Finally, there was a College Students Auto Models Competition and a Chinese and American Automobile Marketing Symposium being held at the same time. Instructor Jonathan Thomasma, who graduated from Northwood University, presented a speech about the development of automotive marketing and service in America. Dealers and managers from Changchun not only developed the college market but also learned new ideas from abroad during the Auto Show.

The Auto Show will be held annually not only for the students studying the pioneering automotive marketing and management courses all over China but also for the students who have a belief in the development of the Chinese college market.
