America’s Free Enterprise University Celebrates America’s 250th
Freedom Lights the Future is Northwood University’s nearly yearlong celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence!
Through academic programming, student projects, public events and educational resources, Northwood is advancing the principles of freedom and free enterprise by inviting students, alumni, faculty, staff and community members to reflect on the ideals that shaped America — and the principles that will help free people flourish in the next 250 years.
A Historic Anniversary. A Timeless Idea.
The Declaration of Independence gave voice to a revolutionary idea: that liberty, responsibility and human dignity are essential to a free society.
At Northwood University, those principles remain central to our mission. Freedom Lights the Future connects America’s founding ideals to The Northwood Idea, our belief in the importance of free enterprise, limited government, personal responsibility and the moral foundation of a free society.
As the nation prepares to commemorate 250 years of independence, Northwood is using this moment to educate, convene and inspire — helping students and citizens understand why freedom still matters
